The psychological score of the Au24 cables is very high. What I mean by this is that these cables produce a sense of calm and unquestionable quality when you listen to them. I don’t know if you’ve noticed this before, but some components and cables never let you relax when you are listening to music. Your mind constantly wanders over the sonic aspects instead of involving you in the performance. The Au24 cables are the opposite. They make you want to forget about the mechanical and analytical aspects of listening to music at home. You are free to let the music envelop your consciousness and forget about all the distracting technical details and audiophile paranoia and anxiety. I didn’t really care if there were cables that were better in one way or another. I could just listen with the Audience cables without worrying about whether they were the best in the world. The music was compelling, and I just wanted to listen.

“Overall the character of the cables is unchanged. Catchwords remain; musical, melodious, liquid, quiet without being dull or lifeless, airy and detailed without dissecting to the bone.

The sound image lets me enjoy a beautiful take from the fifties that was released on Gold Disc by Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab. In the delightful ‘Autumn Leaves’ Miles Davis takes off and the lyrical trumpet breathes atmosphere and emotion. Then Julian ‘Canonball’ Adderley joins him with his alto sax and I realize that I have never heard this take in a more beautiful or moving, touching way.

Conclusion
If there is one part of the audio industry where superlatives like thicker, bigger, more expensive and heavier are at a premium, it’s in the cable world. John McDonald and his team break through this trend with the Audience powerChords and the Au24 interconnects & speaker cables and do this in an impressive way that is very attractive for the true music lover. Visually ‘minimalistic’and elegant. But what is much more important; in an auditive sense, beautifully balanced, liquid and above all musical".
